Cards Fly, Colts Zapped, Dolphins Drown, and the Vikings Get Pillaged

College football's bowl season has finally picked up this week after about 25 games no one cared about including half the teams involved. The first big game to start off the week was Oklahoma State against Oregon which turned into a shootout and in typical Poke fashion, they played zero defense. I think I saw some future Lions on their defense as they fell 42-31. The next day LSU mauled Georgia Tech 38-3 showing truly how pathetic the ACC was this season. I thought they added those Big East teams to become a better football conference? Also on Wednesday, people (with my condolenses) got to see the lowest scoring bowl game in over 50 years....Oregon State 3 Pittsburgh 0. There's a real ratings booster. Thursday kicked off the BCS games with Virginia Tech beating Cincinnati 20-7. Yes, I swear, those were both... [Read More]
Javier Vazquez was obtained earlier this off-season in a six-player deal that sent C Tyler Flowers, 3B Jon Gilmore, SS Brent Lillibridge, and LHP Santos Rodriguez to the Chicago White Sox. He is imagined to be one of our “front-line” pitchers in Frank Wren’s rebuilding process, but what exactly can we expect out of Javier Vazquez? Will he be the perfect compliment to our home-grown pitchers, or the pitcher that has drawn the ire of Ozzie Guillen? Just who exactly is Javier Vazquez?
Pats Screwed, Lions Go 0-16, and the Giants Add a Big Unit

The MLB offseason was highlighted by the Yankees making another splash in the FA market....surprise surprise. The latest mercenary is Mark Teixeira who signed an 8 year deal worth 180 million dollars. It'll be fun to see the New York media when Mark has his annual slow start and the team is sitting in 3rd placing heading after two months. The Giants continue their attempt at dominating the local old men's beer league by signing 45 year old Randy Johnson. California is used to earthquakes, but these craters come earthquake free. The Reds signed Willy Tavares on the advice of their manager as he doesn't clog up the bases.
Today wrapped up the NFL regular season with the Week 17 games and set the playoff matchups. The Pats beat the Bills 13-0 to get to 11 wins, but don't qualify for the playoffs as the Dolphins took the division... [Read More]
Titans Rule, Giants Rule, and Kinzer Drools

Two big games highlighted the NFL this week...Steelers at Titans and Panthers at Giants, both games had the #1 seed on the line. First, the Titans took care of business forcing Big Ben into a plethora of mistakes and won the game going away 31-14. In the NFC, the Giants finally showed some life on offense and ran the ball all over the Panthers defense, including 216 yards rushing from Derrick Ward. They won the game in OT on a Jacobs one yard run. Miami and New England kept their playoff hopes alive with wins over Kansas City and Arizona, while the Jets continued their downward spiral. Sadly, that spiral is more profound than the ducks Favre continues to throw up with the game on the line. San Diego won again this week to move to 7-8 and somehow control their own destiny next week against the Broncos. We really need a 9 win minimum on playoff teams. The Colts wrapped up... [Read More]

Breaking News: Something is about to happen for the Braves that hasn't happeend in a long time.
The Braves, according to Ken Rosenthal, are on the verge of signing a major free agent in Rafael Furcal. Rosenthal reports the deal is expected to be announced later today and is believed to be a three year deal with a vesting option for a fourth season. It would be the first time the Braves dipped deep into the free agent waters since signing Greg Maddux prior to the 1993 season.
